Ski & Snowboard Shop Technician

Company Description
Mountain to Sound Outfitters in West Seattle is seeking a experienced Ski and Snowboard Technician. M2S offers a full service community ski and snowboard shop and regional paddle sports store.

We serve the community and the surrounding areas with ski and snowboard rentals, high performance demos, custom boot fitting, sales, clothing, and a full service tuning shop. The shop performs all aspects of tuning from binding mounts to base work and beyond.

Job Description

We are hiring an experienced Ski Technician for the 2022-2023 Winter season. Candidate must be a independent self starter who has experience in the winter sports industry and 3+ years working in tuning and mounting. Custom boot fitting is highly sought after in the candidate with a willingness to learn the finer points of ski tuning and boot fitting. As with any seasoned technician, attention to detail is of the utmost importance. High level of customer service and ability to sell alpine, nordic, snowboard, accessories and clothing required.

Available position is 35-40 hours a week. Mountain to Sound Outfitters is willing to pay competitive compensation based on experience. Kayak & Paddleboard Repair Technician

Company Description

We are a small kayak shop in West Seattle and we're currently seeking an experienced kayak/SUP repair techinician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience repairing a variety of boats, including inflatables, fiberglass, and rotomolded kayaks.

Responsibilities

  • Repairing and maintaining a variety of boats, including inflatables, fiberglass, and rotomolded kayaks.
  • Diagnosing problems rapidly and working to solve them in reasonable amount of time.
  • Communicating effectively with customers and team during the repair process.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workspace.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in fiberglass repair and in technical shops.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Alki Kayak Tours Sea Kayak Guide

Company Description

At Alki Kayak Tours, we are committed to the conservation and preservation of Puget Sound as a working marine ecosystem that supports the industries of Seattle as well as the spawning salmon headed up the
Duwamish River.

Our guides provide an additional set of eyes on the Sound looking over its well-being for preventable ecological harm. We utilize the best management practices and focus on leaving the smallest possible ecological footprint when operating tours.

Our tours are a forum where the Puget Sound community and tourists alike can discuss and learn about the history and ecosystems
of the Sound.

Our guides offer meaningful commentary with the goal of having every paddler leave with a greater understanding and appreciation of this unique corner of the world. 

Summary

You will be representing Alki Kayak Tours in a profession manner at all times. In order to fill this position you must truly love working with people and be passionate about kayaking, and educating our guests about our local region. You will be a part of our team of guides who guide at least 3 tours each day with as many as 50 guests.

The sea kayak guide position includes managing and taking care of equipment, communicating with other staff and clients, and setting up and putting away all gear for your tour. This involves cleaning all kayaks, PFDs and Paddles. You will be required to plan ahead, work hard, and be detail oriented in taking care of clients and equipment.

You are expected to be responsible to do whatever is necessary to get your tour ready including pulling out all the kayaks, paddles, PFDs, and safety gear. We seek applicants who show us they will go above and beyond, taking the initiative to do what is needed to be done without being asked. No kayak guiding experience in required for this position, as all selected candidates will go through our comprehensive, in-house training, but you must be proficient in the sport.

You will be spending multiple hours a day in the sun and in the water, observing weather, winds, and tides to ensure clients are staying safe and helping them with paddle technique and maneuvers. Explicit details regarding our tour procedures will be provided to you in your employment packet upon hiring.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 Years of age

  • Cell phone and reliable transportation

  • Current First Aid and CPR (or willingness to get certified if hired)

  • Possess knowledge of sea kayaks and ability to lead a group on a 3 hour tour

  • Ability to lift 65 pounds

  • Able to provide a safe tour and class environment and able to perform open water rescues

  • Know or be able to learn local, human, and natural history of Alki

  • Reliable and punctual team player

  • Must be able to attend mandatory training Saturday, April 9th, 2022

Qualifications

- Energetic with a positive attitude

- Strong communication, decision making, logistical, and organizational skills

- Ability to accept and give constructive criticism

- Ability to remain calm, think clearly and act quickly in case of an emergency

- Comfortable and effective in public speaking

- Must be available weekends from Memorial Day to Labor Day

- Salary: ($20 / hour, plus tips)
